    CONRAD BEAUBIEN Writer / Producer

    Writing for television, stage and print, Conrad’s love of storytelling has led hi on a life path in the arts. An Independent film producer, director and writer his expression also takes in the mediums of music, painting and sculpture. With a career spanning decades, Conrad’s television credits include the award-winning documentaries Red Road, Village of Thirty Centuries and The Secret of Will. Series credits include Strange But True, a U.K./U.S./Canada co-production and Second Chance.. Conrad is also the creator and producer of Sketches of Our Town, the longest-running independently produced series in Canada. Turning his energies to theatre, he has seen the successful launch of original works for stage including Stringman, Back of Hoards Station, Bridge Street, The Undoing of Billy Slim, The Boxcar Cowboy and his most recent, Rosalia’s Piano.

    JOHN BURNS “BURNSIE” Director / Producer

    Upon Completing a career in Theatre Education, John has spent over half a century organising theatre companies: (“County Theatre Group” / “Festival Players of Prince Edward County” (recently rebranded as “County Stage Company”) / and finally (with Conrad Beaubien) Théâtre Roulant. John’s two principal contributions are as Producer of these works. But his creative instincts are found in the Directing of Plays.

    Théâtre Roulant is special to him. It is unique. It simultaneously occupies the universe of avant garde and ancient. Horse Drawn. An Elemental form of story sharing. At Waring House. On the lawn. At the Roundabout …

  • SHAWN MURENBEELD Artist / Consultant

    Shawn is an art director, designer, artist and amateur small engine mechanic with 20+ years of agency and corporate experience. He’s worked across all creative fields (including some pretty muddy ones in order to get the shot). From organizational branding to advertising to product design, not to mention visual merchandising, video, and interactive media.

    SARAH KIRBY Marketing / Communications Director / Actor

    This original County Girl returned to the stage with Theatre Roulant in 2023 to play Elizabeth in “Back of Hoards Station”. She had such a great time that when asked to join the team, she couldn’t say no. In our 2024 Summer season, Sarah will be playing Hannah in “Private Reuben Pearce” and multiple roles in “An Evening with Shakes-Beer (and Whine)”. In her spare time she’s a photographer specializing in families and weddings. You can find her at www.imaginepix.ca

    MIKE KIRBY Writer / Director

    After producing two high school plays while teaching at St. Theresa in Belleville, Mike got his first on-stage role in 2010 with the Marysburgh Mummers in The Mumberley Inheritance. In 2014 he, along with his wife Sarah, started The Village Theatre which staged dinner theatre shows at Capers in Belleville. Shows included One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and The Laramie Project. Mike is happy to be part of the Theatre Roulant team and is looking forward to an amazing summer season.

    IAN FELTHAM Director

    Ian’s nearly 20-year involvement with theatre in the Quinte region began shortly after he moved from his homeland of Newfoundland. He has written, produced, and directed plays, as well as tread the boards with theatre groups in Brighton, Trenton, and Belleville. Highlights include Mousetrap, The Woman in Black, Our Town, Tempting Providence, An Evening with Beckett, and En Garde. He recently directed an award-winning production of Between Breaths with the Belleville Theatre Guild. This is his first opportunity to work in the County, and he feels very privileged to collaborate with such a committed cast and crew to help bring the story of Private Reuben Pearce to life.

    COLLEEN JOHNSON Stage Manager

    Colleen has been involved in the theatre scene in PEC for over 45 years: musician, actor, director, producer, set designer, and stage manager. As a founding member of Quinte’s Isle Theatre, Colleen's rich and diverse career has seen her collaborate with The County Theatre Group, Prince Edward Community Theatre, Country Roads Theatre, Shatter Box Theatre, and the Mummers. As a musician, she has played around North America and Europe with the 8 Wing Trenton Military Band and currently plays flute and piccolo with the Brighton All-Stars.

    HOWARD LOPEZ Musician

    Classically trained at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto (ARCT - Piano Performance), Howard has performed in the corporate and special event arena for 35+ years for literally hundreds of functions. Howard loves working with choirs and is the Music Director at Sydenham Street United Church in Kingston. Lesser known, are his composition activities. His four collections are found on iTunes and include: “Under the Piano”, “Music and Mistletoe”, “Echoes” and “Sounds for the Soul”. Howard lends his creative and performance skills in the presentation of this play with the "Théâtre Roulant" troupe and creates, the musical backdrop, in the moment and, in tandem with Co-Producer Conrad Beaubien. As a result, no two performances will be the same. Each performance will be unique and will be a “one-time” experience...

  • TOM DIETZEL Musician

    Hailing from Moose Jaw, Tom studied classical piano with Carl Ellis and Maude McGuire. At St. Joseph’s Church in Belleville he led a musical theatre youth group, - composing and performing settings of gospel stories, and he has been involved with musicals at the Belleville Theatre Guild since 2005. Tom enjoys time visiting with his sons in Toronto and Montreal.

    SAM HIRST Musician

    Sam has been a musician and music director for over 30 years, in choral, band, and musical theatre settings. Her cow path has taken her through musical traditions around the world, from Ghana and Japan to the Republic of Georgia and Eastern Europe, only to lead her back to her hometown in the County playing, directing, and performing funk, disco, blues, jazz and classical music. Sam is happy for the opportunity to collaborate with the folks at Station Road Arts.

    MEGAN HUTTON Musician / Actor

    Best known as the lead singer of Instant Rivalry, is an award winning singer - songwriter and a graduate from NYU's prestigious Clive Davis Institute and TISCH. Aside from music, Megan is an actress, an award winning playwright and a teacher. Megan penned the song “Ride On” for Private Rueben Pearce.

    MEAGHAN LOVE Actor / Musician

    Meaghan is no stranger to the stage. She is an award-winning actress who has performed on stages in many different theatre companies (St. James' Players, Peterborough Theatre Guild, Kemptville Players, Belleville Theatre Guild, Lennox Community Theatre) before joining the Theatre Roulant troupe. When she’s not teaching the Arts in Quinte area schools or acting on stages, Meaghan is also a local musician who performs solo acoustic shows, as well as shows with her band, The Chachkies. Meaghan is delighted to be working with such a talented cast and production team.

    DAVID BAKER Actor / Producer

    David is thrilled to be performing at Theatre Roulant with such a talented (and hilarious) group. He is a graduate of the University of Windsor’s BFA – Acting program and has performed in many roles in many Shakespeares ranging from Twelfth Night, to The Winter’s Tale, to Richard III.

    Catch David later this year performing in Daniel MacIvor’s Monster as the premier show of his newly founded Theatre Company; No Name Theatre, a co-production with Théâtre Roulant.

    DAVID BURNS Actor

    A graduate of York University, David is an actor and an educator. He has performed in film, theatre and at such venues as Second City, Factory Theatre, Theatre Passe Muraille and Meridian Hall in Toronto. Since graduating from York University’s Fine Arts Education program with a specialty in Drama in 2006, he has taught in England and Canada. David has previously performed with Theatre Roulant in “Box Car Cowboy” and “Back of Hoards Station.” David is currently serving as the secretary on the board of Station Road Arts.

    TOM COATES Actor

    Somewhat a newcomer to the stage, Tom's theatrical debut was at The Village Theatre production of "The Laramie Project" in 2018 followed by "Finding My Way Back To Me" at the Pinnacle Playhouse. An electrical engineering graduate of Queen's University, Tom retired from a 30+ year career in engineering during The Great Resignation of 2021.

  • PAT LARKIN Actor

    For over two decades, Pat has charmed audiences with roles ranging from the flamboyant Frankenfurter in Rocky Horror to the dark intensity of Mark Rothko in Red and the heartfelt Norman in On Golden Pond. Pat's dedication has earned him two Best Actor awards from the Eastern Ontario Drama League (EODL). With a warm smile and infectious enthusiasm, Pat embraces each role, grateful for the friendships and stories that make theatre so magical.

    MARK LESAGE Actor

    “At last, I get to do Shakespeare!” Mark is super-stoked to be a part of the “Shakes-beer” cast this summer. He has been treading the boards since elementary school, as a director, actor, playwright and teacher of drama. He has performed in Trenton, with the Belleville Theatre Guild (On Golden Pond, Calendar Girls) Theatre in the Wings, and Tweed & Co. Theatre (Hastings the Musical, Aleck Bell). Mark has fond memories of acting in Mike Kirby’s productions of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and was honoured to get a casting call for this production. Mark has most recently performed his one man play, “The Rebel of Hungerford” at a family reunion in Tweed. Nowadays you will find Mark performing as his alter ego, the romantically challenged accordion player, Torbic Kagmire.

    BILL MCMAHON Actor

    Bill has been involved in the Quinte Region theatre scene as both director and actor for the past twelve years. Bill, working primarily with Prince Edward Community Theatre has directed “God of Carnage” “The Mousetrap” “Time Stands Still” “Veronica’s Room” “Crimes Of The Heart” and “The Gravitational Pull of Bernice Trimble” and directed “Proof” and “The Dining Room” with The Belleville Theatre Guild. On stage roles include Syndney, in “Deathtrap” Morgan in “The Drawer Boy” Robert, in “Proof” James in “The Black Chair” and Krapp in “Krapp’s Last Tape” at Belleville’s Theatre in the Wings.

    MATTHEW MCPHEE Actor

    Matthew is a an actor, writer and educator with a love of all things Shakespeare. A relative newcomer to the stage, he began his acting career in 2022 with an award winning turn as William Deitweiler in the Belleville Theater Guild's "How the Other Half Loves." The next year he returned to the stage, starring in the widely acclaimed "Over the River and through the Woods." When not writing or rehearsing, Matt can typically be found slouched over a desk marking papers in his starring role as a high-school social science teacher.

  • WENDY ROY Actor

    As a very silly person, and also a middle child, Wendy was naturally drawn to the stage. She joined the local theatre community in 2013, and has appeared in numerous productions in the Quinte area. In November 2019, with the Belleville Theatre Guild, she was the recipient of the Mae Carmichael Acting Award at the EODL One Act Play Festival. She is delighted to continue being a silly person on the Théâtre Roulant stage.

  • BILL MCBURNEY Musician

    'Kentucky Bill' as he's called around our parts, was born in Ottawa where at the age of twelve, he got his hands on his first guitar. Life took him to many places including Kentucky where he raised his family. Eventually the call of the north got to him and while that first guitar was by then worn out and his car broken down, Bill still had a lot of songs in him. With his self-deprecating humour, Bill now likes to be known as The Legend, mainly because of his advanced years. Come and take in his music as he plays opening sets before each one of the performances of Private Rueben Pearce.

    Folks often think these two guys are the brains of our operation and there are some days we feel the same way.

    That is Thunder on the right who at this particular moment was holding out for a raise in pay. Meanwhile brother Joe on the left is all ears. Walking with Thunder, a series of meditative walks through the outback of Prince Edward County is something that helps keep a lot of us sane. And then again, there are others...

  • FRED ROBINSON Director

    Fred studied at Birmingham University in the UK and at Concordia University in Montreal, taking Theatre Arts courses and Graduate courses in English. He has taught Senior High School courses in English Literature, Drama and Theatre Arts since graduation. He has designed and directed over 30 major theatrical productions. After retiring to the County, Fred became involved in John Burn’s production of Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol, and in more recent years, designed and directed three professional productions for County Roads Theatre Company. (The Belle of Amherst by William Luce, On a First Name Basis, by Norm Foster and Collected Stories by Donald Margulies.). Fred is lookdng forward to directing Conrad Beaubien’s new play, Ruben Pearce in 2025.
